Our Center is seeking an individual to join our direct services team. Direct services include, but are not limited to, advocacy and accompaniment, counseling, support groups, hotline, emergency safe housing, transportation and child care. Services are provided to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence and other forms of interpersonal violence. This position will mainly be providing counseling and advocacy with adults, including services off-site.

Under general supervision**, the Victim Advocate establishes and maintains a safe, supportive and empowering environment for victims and survivors of interpersonal violence. They effectively support ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff, and is responsible for ensuring a trauma informed care environment.

The Victim Advocate provides general support to program participants and oversees adherence to program rules and expectations designed to promote client well-being and safety through a trauma informed approach.

Like all of our positions, the Victim Advocate is part of a team and we all support one another and work together to help meet the needs of our clients and support of our staff.

This position does work directly with clients and provides direct services such as hotline, on-call response, crisis counseling, criminal justice support/advocacy, and childcare. Training will be provided. Experience working one on one with adults and at-risk youth preferred. This position is full-time, 35 hours per week, benefits included.

Qualifications:

  1. Two or more years of related experience in a human service field, college education, or previous training.
  2. ARCC counselor/advocate training.
  3. Organizational skills including management, office skills, and record keeping.
  4. Writing and speaking skills.
  5. Knowledge of and concern for victim issues.
  6. Basic computer skills.
  7. Required clearances.
  8. Ability to work independently with a strong sense of focus, task-oriented, non-judgmental, open personal qualities, clear sense of boundaries, and ability to establish rapport.
  9. Proven ability to establish and maintain positive, ongoing professional relationships with program participants, co-workers and partner agency staff.
  10. Knowledge of community resources for high-risk populations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides the following direct services:
    1. Individual crisis counseling, follow up counseling, group counseling, information and referrals, criminal justice support/advocacy, emergency financial assistance, emergency legal advocacy, personal advocacy and Victims Compensation Assistance.
    2. Mobile services and accompaniment, not limited to, off-site counseling, advocacy and accompaniment with clients in the civil/criminal legal systems and medical systems

3)   Provides on-call hotline and services as needed in order to provide a continuity of services to clients

  1. General Duties:
    1. Keeps accurate records and meets deadlines.
    2. Systems advocacy as required.
    3. Attends staff meetings.
    4. Performs other duties as assigned.
