Actalent Distribution Engineer in Traverse City, Michigan

Job Title: Distribution EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a Distribution Engineer who will spend time occasionally at one of the service centers, but most of the time will be spent in the field or working remotely. The role involves developing designs for electronic, electro-mechanical, or mechanical equipment, creating preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals. You will investigate pertinent design factors, coordinate with other organizations, and make layouts of complex assemblies. The position requires checking completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, and accuracy. You will identify design errors and recommend revisions or improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop designs for electronic, electro-mechanical, or mechanical equipment.

  • Create preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.

  • Investigate design factors such as ease of manufacture, material availability, and cost.

  • Coordinate with other organizations affected by design development.

  • Make layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.

  • Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, and accuracy.

  • Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies; recommend revisions or improvements.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (EE or CE preferred) or equivalent experience.

  • 0-2 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree.

  • Associates Degree with 1-3 years relevant experience will be considered.

  • Experience working with electric utilities or electric utility consulting companies.

  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD and Microstation.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).

  • Familiarity with PoleForeman, SAP, and Microstation.

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.

  • Collaborative and inclusive of diverse backgrounds and locations.

  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in teams.

  • Professional dress and demeanor.

Work Environment

The typical workweek consists of 10%-20% field inspections, 60%-80% engineering and development of design packages for construction crews, and 10% performing administrative tasks, planning, and customer follow-up. You will spend 2-3 days per week in the office, with the remaining days being remote. The role requires the ability to lift 20 pounds and walk up to 2 miles on unpaved surfaces. Reliable transportation is necessary.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00
