Becoming a nurse in our oncology department is a fulfilling and demanding career that requires a high-level of compassion, patience, and sensitivity, as well as excellent communication skills with critical thinking. The treatments that we utilize to treat patients require a great deal of detail, since it is critical to patient safety.

They must be prepared to meet the complex needs of their patients and maintain a calm, caring demeanor in an environment that can at times be unpredictable.

Required

  • Graduation from a state approved nursing educational program.

  • Currently registered (or planning to register) to take the State board licensing exam. The expectation is that the State board licensing exam will be taken as soon as possible.

  • Medication delivery and counting of narcotics or witnessing waste of narcotics may not be done until the RN licensure is obtained.

  • Maintains Basic Life Support certification.
