General Description
This position entails skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance of City recreational facilities, performing a wide variety of tasks related to the function and maintenance of Treasure Bay Golf & Tennis, its recreational grounds, and other recreational facilities. Responsibilities are performed under the general direction of the Recreation Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions
Utilizes various mowers (riding and walk-behind), edgers, blowers, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, shovels, rakes, hoes, machetes, hand saws, pruners, loppers for landscape maintenance. Must be adaptable to working on ladders, in bucket trucks and scissor lifts.
Performs jobs related to Har-Tru and asphalt tennis court maintenance, including moving 1-ton+ pallets with a pallet jack, grooming, patching, watering, and rolling Har-Tru courts. Fence repair, windscreen installation and repairs, painting.
Engages in light construction and plumbing with associated power tools such as circular and reciprocating saws, grinders, impact wrenches, corded and cordless drills, as well as hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, ratchets, etc.
Responsible for the maintenance of all work tools and vehicles assigned within in the division, especially regular maintenance of mowers, rollers, and other riding equipment, and power and hand tools.
Responsible for inspecting and cleaning facilities including daily maintenance of side walk surfaces, play surfaces, debris and trash removal.
May be required to assume clubhouse attendant duties in a friendly and professional manner when assigned. This includes serving alcohol, once trained.
Responsible for opening and closing, locking and unlocking, and otherwise securing facilities as directed.
Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various community events, functions and programs.
Attends periodic job specific training sessions, workshops, and conferences as required.
Employees will be required to perform other job-related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications, Licenses and Certifications
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
High school diploma or equivalency (GED).
Two (2) years' experience in groundskeeping.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS
•Valid Florida Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and Environmental Conditions
Ability to learn modern techniques, methods, procedures and practices of maintaining manicured landscaping, Har-Tru tennis court maintenance, playground equipment maintenance.
Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time, possibly in inclement weather.
Ability to lift more than 60 lbs. on a frequent basis.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
Ability to communicate both verbally and written.
Working knowledge of equipment and supplies used for minor repairs.
Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities and tasks according to work schedule.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and respond to call back.
Ability to deal with the public effectively, courteously, and enthusiastically.
Ability to take instruction, learn new skills, and adapt to change.
