About our Team

The Trade Sales team is seeking an individual with excellent analytical abilities and strong business acumen. We're a small group of experienced people who work closely together with the goal of helping Elsevier meet its budget goals for North American Trade accounts like Amazon and other global book sellers.

About the Role

As a Trade Sales Business Analyst you will support Elsevier's large trade sales business initiatives with data analysis and modeling. The emphasis will be on North America and some global markets focused on print and digital books. Successful candidates will have experience creating compelling arguments and visualizations. Also key is the ability to navigate ambiguity and being able to influence with recommendations. Must be able to explain difficult concepts on market dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Working cross functionally analyzing data for insights as it relates to the Trade market for books.

  • Using internal and external data sets to make recommendations for maximizing revenue and the impact on our book products

  • Monitoring market trends/ developments of key competitors' and events in the market that pose risk or opportunity

  • Turning observations into insights that are presented to senior management and communicated to customer facing teams for execution

  • Creating models to predict multiple data points with interactive variables/drivers

  • Monitoring existing metrics as well as develop and propose new metrics to make actionable intelligence available to business stakeholders.

  • Communicating insights to key stakeholders using PowerPoint; be comfortable presenting to senior managers

  • Being comfortable working both in a matrixed team and individually; Enthusiastic and positive thinking

Requirements

  • Have prior training or experience in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field

  • Possess deep comfort level and experience with data visualization; Excel; Tableau and Salesforce

  • Have excellent skills with building and using PowerPoint decks

  • Be very detail oriented

  • Have outstanding verbal and written communications skills

  • Have excellent organizational and time-management skills
