City Of Trinidad Fleet Supervisor in Trinidad, Colorado

POSITION : Fleet Supervisor

MUSTS: Required Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED required 5 - 7 years of experience in light and/or heavy automotive maintenance. A combination of education and experience may be considered. 2 - 4 years of management or supervisory experience. ASE or other relevant certifications earned from an accredited technical school highly preferred. Valid Colorado Class B CDL with airbrake endorsement is required or must be acquired within 6 months from date of hire at the applicant's expense Other Requirements: Must possess a valid current state-issued driver's license and not be under suspension, revocation or denial nor have any prior alcohol and/or drug related driving offenses within the last five years. A driving record search will be conducted on all applicants prior to employment and will be subject to observation throughout their employment. Successful candidates must pass a background investigation and physical examination in accordance with job duties prior to employment. Applicants will be required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and may be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their employment as per City policy CPR/First Aid training required. All certifications, once achieved, must be maintained throughout employment.

DUTIES: Under limited supervision, the Fleet Supervisor performs maintenance and repairs on all vehicles and equipment in the City's fleet. The Fleet Supervisor supervises the Fleet Mechanics in implementing and maintaining all fleet operations. Supervises Fleet staff and works with the Mechanics to ensure proper repair and maintenance of the City's fleet. Supervises the parts management and inventory. Shall perform preventive maintenance and repair/overhaul work on all City vehicles and equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders, trailers, generators, police vehicles, fire trucks, graders, street sweepers, sanders, plows, mowers and small equipment, specialty equipment and all other types of municipal power-driven equipment and power tools. Troubleshoots and repairs brakes, steering systems, suspensions, hydraulic and electrical systems. Trains department staff in safe operation of tools, equipment, and vehicles and ensures safe operation by City employees. Prioritizes and reviews work in progress and develops operating plans as necessary. Develops and maintains proper preventative maintenance programs for all vehicles and equipment. Assists with motor vehicle accident reports. Responsible for the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of shop area. Evaluates staff work, conducts performance evaluations, participates in the hiring process, and in the termination/discipline process. Performs service calls on fleet units in emergency situations outside of normal work hours as needed. Performs other duties as required and assigned.

WAGES: $67,000.00 - 72,000.00 annually DOE
