Third Judicial District Truancy Prevention Specialist P/T in Trinidad, Colorado

P/T Truancy Prevention Specialist

Must: QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of: High School Diploma or GED Demonstrated valid driver's license, and an insured and reliable vehicle

Preferred: Completion of at least one year of study at an institution of higher education or college degree from an accredited institution Demonstrated appropriate training/experience with at-risk students and families Demonstrated ability to work tactfully/cohesively with students, staff, administrators, parents and community members Demonstrated knowledge of community services available to students and families Demonstrated skills in behavior management techniques in school setting Demonstrated ability to record required student data related to attendance, academics and or behavior Demonstrated ability with MS Office Suite and Excel spreadsheets Must be able to pass background check and drug screen

DUTIES: JOB GOALS: Work collaboratively with school personnel, students, families, community agencies and district-level support in addressing attendance/behavioral issues and the needs of students Work in partnership with local Courts and court staff to help students and families be successful with regards to truancy

To serve children, youth and families at risk for truancy and poor school performance in the local area.. This position will work with students and their families to overcome barriers to regular school attendance and better school performance.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with the District Court and Community Based Organization Step-Up and children, youth and their families who are currently enrolled in the truancy program as well as facilitate referrals for children and youth who are struggling with truancy Attend truancy court hearings as needed and required Successfully work with school attendance software to assist in the identification and on-going monitoring of students with identified attendance issues Successfully work with families in addressing attendance, academic and or behavior issues of identified students Work collaboratively with school personnel, students, families, community agencies and district-level support in addressing the needs of students Coordinate and facilitate the process of accessing community resources for students and families Work collaboratively with district personnel and building staff to develop and implement strategies to increase parent involvement Experience and/or demonstrate understanding of the family meeting process or philosophy Write and keep appropriate, accurate reports and records Participate in professional development and/or on-going training Possess an excellent work ethic and attitude and take ownership/responsibility for all assigned duties Perform all other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor Dress professionally

Pay: $15-$20/HOUR Employer pays once a month

Shift: Days and hours will be discussed at the interview. This is a part-time position
