Unity House Peer Counselor in Troy, New York

Do you have a passion to help others because you have lived through similar experiences? 

The Housing Support Services at Unity House of Troy is looking for a Part Time HIV Peer Specialist to join its dynamic team. 

Responsibilities: 

Provide support services to consumers living with HIV/AIDS.

Educate clients on community resources.

Help participants connect to program services.

Accompany consumers to appointments.

Assist with health literacy.

Communicate effective coping strategies based on personal experience.

Maintain confidentiality.

Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging.

Requirements:

High School or GED required. Must have lived experience with homelessness, mental illness, substance use, or living with HIV/AIDS. Good verbal and written communication skills; basic computer skills required. Must have access to reliable transportation and a valid NYS driver's license.
