Georgia Transmission Engineer IV - VI, Transmission Line Design Services in Tucker, Georgia

Independently performs physical design of transmission lines (structural design experience preferred). Creates drawings, specifications, and contract documents to be used for construction, fabrication, and/or bids. Conducts research, engineering studies, the evaluation and approval of materials, and design standards development. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard and unique design techniques, procedures, and criteria required for design development, exercising judgment in making adaptations and modifications for highly complex design projects. Represents Transmission Line Design as an internal part of a corporate team on assignments with clear and specific objectives. Leads the development and modification of design standards. (EIV-EVI) Responsible for coordinating the training of new design associates. Responsible for conducting design reviews of complex design projects. Senior engineering lead for technical consultation and support within the Transmission Line Design department, other functional areas, and Electric Membership Cooperatives as required. Represents the Corporation in a court of law providing legal testimony on complex projects and associated engineering standards and practices. The primary researcher conducts engineering studies and evaluates materials, taking action on findings. (EV-EVI) Assists in the preparation of goals and group budget requirements. Initiates and leads process improvement initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: BS in Civil Engineering preferred (structural emphasis preferred) or Mechanical Engineering

Experience: (E-IV) Six (6) years experience, (E-V) Eight (8) years experience, (E-VI) Ten (10) years experience in transmission line design (structural design experience preferred)

Equivalent Experience: (E-IV) Four (4) years, (E-V) Six (6) years, (E-VI) Eight (8) years with PE registration.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) Registration preferred.

Specialized Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, PLS-CADD, Microsoft Suite, and AutoCAD.

Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.

About Transmission Line Design Department

Transmission Line Design provides the engineering/design/drafting support for constructing new or modifying existing transmission lines. The department maintains the standard methods of design for on-time, reliable, and cost-effective transmission line designs. Activities within the department include (but are not limited to) estimating, routing, engineering, designing, drafting, specifying, and requesting material for projects.
