Pay Range\ Hiring Range: \$29.08 - \$34.90 Per Hour\ Full Range: \$29.08 - \$40.71 Per Hour\ *\ *Salary offers are based on the candidate\'s equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.**\ \ Join our flow monitoring team in the Technical Services and Engineering Division of the Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department and take on a crucial role as a Public Works Supervisor I. We are seeking a motivated self-starter with exceptional leadership abilities to oversee staff in the field. As the field supervisor, you will play a vital role in managing over 3500 miles of sewer system, across Pima County. Primary duties include equipment installation and capacity investigations. Whether overseeing multiple work sites within a defined geographical area or focusing on specific locations, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the community and ensure the smooth operation of our vital infrastructure. Duties/Responsibilities

Work assignments may vary depending on the departments need and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.

  • Oversees maintenance, repair and construction work on assigned sections of highways, roadways, drainage ways, solid waste or sanitary sewerage facilities and structures;
  • Ensures quality control, safety practices and completion of all work performed by work crews, vendors and contract construction agencies;
  • Schedules and inspects the implementation of annual and periodic maintenance, construction and service contracts for compliance with operating permits, standards and specifications;
  • Forecasts, projects and/or monitors unit costs and expenditures for supplies, equipment and man-hours for maintenance and construction projects and contracts;
  • Supervises removal and disposal of snow, ice and debris in assigned areas;
  • Inspects assigned areas for road damage or roadway hazards and orders repairs of specialized road and bridge facilities/structures, such as guardrails, cattle guards, corrugated pipe culverts, etc.;
  • Coordinates the construction, repair, inspection and maintenance of sanitary sewer or solid waste facilities, wastewater pumping systems, manholes, piping, spillways and catwalks, to include vector, odor and corrosion control;
  • Coordinates activities involved in the operational maintenance of public solid and landfill waste facilities and authorizes stop-work orders;
  • Interprets blueprints, construction specifications and engineering drawings and discusses specified construction procedures with affected parties to ensure compliance with contract requirements and industry standards and codes;
  • May act as Public Works Supervisor-Senior in their absence.
Minimum Qualifications

(1) Six years of experience in commercial, industrial or public works maintenance, repair or construction AND two years of lead or supervisory experience in a commercial, industrial or public works construction or maintenance setting. (Refer to Special Notice Items.)

*(Graduation from an accredited college or technical school in environmental technology, engineering or a related discipline may substitute for four years of the general experience. Relevant experience and/or education from an accredite college or university may be substituted.)\ *

OR:

(2) Three years of experience with Pima County as a Public Works Crew Supervisor.\ \

  1. Minimum six (6) months of experience working with computer databases or software applications for maintenance management.
  2. Minimum six (6) months of experience maintaining and troubleshooting equipment of a technical nature.
  3. Minimum one (1) year experience demonstrating effective written and verbal communication skills, such as drafting work procedures, interacting with contractors and vendors, and conducting presentations.
