BUMC-Tucson is a private, non-profit, 649-bed acute-care teaching hospital located on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.

As a Kitchen Equipment Technician, you will maintain various pieces of kitchen and refrigeration equipment on site. Ideally, you will be familiar with, but not limited to; Combi ovens, dishwashers, steam tables, pizza ovens, EVS washers and dryers, and preferably low temp refrigeration etc. This is a very rewarding position and a great opportunity to serve the community in which we live. Your schedule will be Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm. You will primarily support BUMC-Tucson, with occassional support to our North campus.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position reports up through Banner Facilities Operations Shared Services team. This position is responsible for conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on Banner’s commercial kitchen equipment. Troubleshoots and repairs all types of gas and electrically operated commercial cooking and refrigerated equipment. This position supports a small group of geographically linked culinary departments residing in medical centers and corporate office buildings.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Coordinates preventative maintenance activities with culinary customers. Interacts with outside suppliers, vendors and manufacturers.

  2. Responds to culinary repairs and checks in with culinary contact upon arriving on site.

  3. Keeps culinary contact updated on status for equipment repairs through updates in the work order management system.

  4. Prioritizes repairs and coordinates activates to eliminate loss of perishable product and makes temporary accommodations for perishable product due to primary equipment failure.

  5. Maintains an accurate inventory of supported equipment to include serial number, equipment identification number and manufacturer name as well as frequently used parts, equipment, and supplies to replenish as needed.

  6. Tracks repair history, preventative maintenance history and labor hours in the Facilities Operations maintenance management system.

  7. Uses mobile technology to input all information into the maintenance management system in real-time as work is completed.

  8. Works independently under general supervision. Fulfills responsibilities using specialized skills and knowledge. This position interacts with a wide variety of individuals including staff, co-workers, patients, physicians, visitors, regulatory agencies, surveyors, inspectors, contractors, and vendors. This position is scheduled to limit the impact on the culinary customer. This position works evenings and nights. This position strives to provide the highest quality of service and support to Facilities Operations culinary customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of commercial kitchen, beverage and refrigeration equipment. Must have good communication and time management skills. Must be able to work as part of a team accomplish the goals of the Facilities Department. Must be able to work with mobile technology and common office software programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous kitchen equipment experience is preferred. 3-5 years of previous healthcare Facilities Services experience is preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
