As the Nutrition Technician you will assist the diet office with editing patient menus, tallying daily menu item counts from patient menus and preparing production sheets. Will lead in patient tray assembly/patient meal service process, assure food presentation meets quality standards, and check patient trays for menu compliance. You may provide patients with menu and tray/patient meal service, receiving and forwarding patient requests and communication to dietary staff when appropriate. You will be accountable for patient satisfaction with dietary and food services, so bring on you premier service! You will be responsible for the diet office processes and may provide lead responsibility for diet office in absence of supervisor including making assignments for position coverage.

This is a full time position with full benefits!

Shifts: 12:30pm-9:00pm Wednesdays and Thursdays off

40 hours/ varied shifts. Weekends and holidays are required.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing patients with menu and tray/patient meal service, for receiving and forwarding patient requests and communication to dietary staff when appropriate. Works to provide patient satisfaction with dietary and food services. This position is responsible for the diet office processes and may provide lead responsibility for diet office in absence of supervisor including making assignments for position coverage.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Visits patients to obtain or discuss menu selections based upon diet ordered. Using judgment, checks that patient selections are appropriate to the defined selections for the diet prescribed, and makes modified diet decisions whether in the diet office or on the patient unit as required. Enters or records all daily patient meal selections and preferences for one or more patient units. Provides patients with standard information for prescribed diet. Requests Dietary staff assistance when needed.

  2. Provides diet office processing including editing patient menus, tallying daily menu item counts from patient menus and preparing production sheets.

  3. May lead in patient tray assembly/patient meal service process, assure food presentation meets quality standards, and check patient trays for menu compliance. Position is responsible for the diet office processes.

  4. May delivers and serves meals while making independent judgments about special requests, snacks and nourishments as assigned to patient rooms or nursing units.

  5. Under minimal supervision, this position interacts with patients and families, other food service staff, nursing staff, and dietary staff. Requires the ability to follow a work routine with minimal supervision, to work quickly and correctly while providing good customer service and maintaining dietary, food quality and sanitation standards. Ensures that the diet office processes are completed and may provide lead responsibility in absence of supervisor, typically during evening and/or weekend shifts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional skills and knowledge in health care nutrition services preferred. Bilingual skills preferred in some assignments.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
