The Software organization develops software applications, including integration and test on missiles, launchers, radars, naval systems, fire control and other complex systems. Job Summary:

We are hiring for a Senior Principal Software Engineer to serve as a Software Product Owner (PO) in the Software Engineering Directorate’s Effectors Center supporting a major Advanced Technology missile program.

The Software PO is responsible for managing all cost, schedule, planning, and execution for Software Engineering activities for the Software Product team. These activities include but are not limited to Estimate at Completion Reviews (EACs), proposal reviews, agile backlog development, staffing projections, and monthly metrics tracking. In addition, the PO will be the primary Software Engineering interface to the customer community, program management, and other stakeholders. The PO is responsible for leading the team to execute all stages of software development and testing for software builds to meet software delivery milestones on a fast-paced schedule.

This position is within the Effectors Center of the Software organization, and is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Apply expertise in software development for embedded multi-processor systems.

  • Manage the execution of all assigned SW work scope, determine the allocation of personnel within the team to perform that work, and review and approve any SW contract deliverables before delivery to the customer.

  • Support SW growth through proposal development and deployment with continuous improvement of people, processes, and tools.

  • Represent the interests of the Software Engineering Directorate on the program.

  • Extensive interaction with Program Managers, Chief Engineers, Directorate Managers, Department Manager and Systems and Performance IPT lead.

  • Responsible for developing a team capable of delivering products that include embedded real-time tactical flight, built-in-test, boot, and reprogramming software capabilities.

  • Responsible for interface and coordination with internal and external organizations for Software Engineering and software development, software integration, software test planning, coordination, execution, and reporting activities.

  • Identification, establishment and implementation of best practices and lessons learned.

  • Represent the Raytheon Software Engineering team to the customer during regular programmatic and technical meetings.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other STEM related field and 10 years of experience.

  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Experience supporting missile system software design, requirements, development, integration, or test

  • Experience using Agile software development processes, such as scrum, SAFe, etc.

  • Experience leading a software team in a technical capacity including planning and execution.

  • Experience using C/C++ language.

  • Experience with real-time embedded software or Real Time Operating Systems (RTOSs)

  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Certified or Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing, testing and/or integrating real-time embedded software.

  • Experience designing and architecting real-time embedded software on multi-core systems including boot

  • Experience using scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python, Matlab).

  • Experience presenting to program and customer leadership for major design reviews such as SFR, PDR and CDR and routine reviews such as PMR, MMR, and gate reviews.

  • Experience with the US government proposal process.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
