This position involves delivery of nursing care based upon nursing process under the direction of a Registered Nurse according to the hospital’s policies and procedures.

Hours of Position:

7a-7p, 36 hours/week

$10k Sign-on Bonus for eligible candidates (current employees and candidates who have worked at Vanderbilt within the last year are not eligible.)

The Progressive Care Unit is located on the 3rd floor at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital (VTHH). It’s a 19 bed unit with a typical Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 and the assistance of a Patient Care Technician/Certified Nurse Assistant. We are located on the third floor at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital (VTHH).

The environment on our unit is focused on teamwork, excellent patient care, and welcoming new team members.

We care for adult patients who are being treated for a variety of medical diagnoses. Our patients are unique because of their diverse medical needs.

One of the perks of working on our unit is we get to work with such a diverse amount of medical diagnoses and work closely with our local cardiologist to care for these amazing patients.

Our nurses are successful because they have strong assessment and communication skills, excellent focus on teamwork, and trust in themselves and their teammates.

We orient new nurses to our unit through six weeks of unit-specific orientation with a designated preceptor and skills days focusing on skills used on our unit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to demonstrate effective communications skills, empathy, and unconditional positive regard toward all patients and co-workers.

• Delivery of clinical practice utilizing standards of practice and in accordance with the hospitals mission & vision.

• Ability to work under limited supervision and to follow written and oral instructions.

• Knowledge of bio psychosocial and spiritual aspects of human behavior ranging from infancy to geriatrics.

• Compliance with organizational requirements, including policies, procedures and regulations specific to your unit.

• Mechanism must be provided for contact of employee (i.e., cell phone, telephone, emergency contact).

• Flexibility in schedule in order to meet the needs of the patients, community and staff.

• Participates in performance improvement to improve patient outcomes.

• Maintains licensure, required certification and annual education requirements prior to due date.

• Demonstrates professional behavior with a positive outlook at all times

• Knowledge and implementation of standardized PPE regarding the prevention / transmission of infectious disease / isolation processes.

• Other duties as assigned.
