Job Description

Position will be responsible for Crude Marketing Accounting activities, as part of the existing Crude Marketing accounting team.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs monthly written confirmations along with invoicing and net out processes in the high visibility monthly crude settlement process. Actively and professionally communicates with counterparties and schedulers to support this time sensitive activity and helps to resolve any differences.

  • Participates in the accurate payment and management of secondary cost invoices associated with the crude marketing business .

  • Monitors, analyzes and maintains accuracy in the AR and AP Aging processes for the Crude Marketing activities. Identify, research, and resolve any differences.

  • Prepare monthly inventory reconciliations by location, works closely and effectively with schedulers.

  • Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations, as required

  • Prepares and records monthly intercompany journal entries and maintains intercompany balancing accuracy.

  • Prepares miscellaneous journal entries as needed to resolve issues.

  • Respond with timeliness and professionalism to requests from both internal and external auditors.

  • Obtains cross training and knowledge from existing Crude Marketing accountants to allow a full understanding of crude marketing activities and can serve as backup when needed on various processes.

  • Actively participates in reengineering and process redesign to improve accuracy and gain efficiencies when needed improvements are identified.

  • Maintains compliance with SOX requirements.

  • Assist others within the group as needed to accomplish shared department goals.

  • Miscellaneous projects as assigned by manager.

  • Exhibits ethical integrity.

  • Regular attendance at the worksite is required.

Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 3 to 5 years of Oil and Gas accounting experience is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Right Angle Software is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

  • Ability to work independently to accomplish requirements of position.

  • Must be able to present potential concerns or recommendations to upper levels of Accounting and Operating management.

  • Must have demonstrated leadership traits and experience.

  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills are required.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently to ensure deadlines are met with accuracy.

  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills, critical thinker.

  • Good interpersonal skills; able to communicate and work with different departments, external contacts and with various levels of company personnel.

  • Must be a team player and get along well with others.

  • Provide excellent Customer Service and bring a positive attitude.

  • Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.

  • Ability to maintain stability under pressure and be flexible and willing to modify plans and behavior when necessary.

  • Shows a willingness to learn and document processes

  • Ability to be a positive representative of the Company both internally and externally.

  • Must be committed to working safely at all times.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting Required.

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Travel:

Some travel required.
