This is a job for a Operations Supervisor - Tupelo - 12/12/24 position with a company located in the Tupelo, MS area.
Job Summary: This position reports to the Tupelo, MS office. The selected candidate must live within 30 miles/minutes of the Tupelo office. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the daily operational activities within an assigned functional area for the natural gas distribution system within one or more communities.
Primary Duties: Oversees functional areas to include one or more of the following: service, construction/maintenance, and meter reading. May also oversee leak survey, corrosion, measurement, instrumentation, and controls. Ensures all activities are performed with regard to safe operational policies and procedures to protect the employee, the system, and the public. May oversee service, leak survey, corrosion, measurement, instrumentation and controls, construction/maintenance, and meter reading. Monitors functional area budgets to ensure efficient utilization of resources. Schedules, coordinates, and oversees assigned O&M, capital, and employee resources. Maintains adequate staffing levels to ensure proper administration of activities. Selects, develops, trains, motivates, and evaluates the performance of assigned employees. May initiate and supervise service and construction orders for new main construction, main replacements, and large volume meter sets. Schedules, monitors, and conducts quality control audits of work performed by assigned employees to ensure system integrity, regulatory compliance, and customer safety. Works closely with engineering to identify system improvements, upgrades, and field functions required to maintain system integrity. Responds to customer inquiries and complaints involving areas of responsibility to maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction. Coordinates activities with regard to emergencies, outages, and pressure problems. Establishes schedules necessary to achieve completion of mandated annual surveys and procedures and completes various reports (In some divisions, these functions may be performed by the Compliance Supervisor). Leads as a culture champion by promoting our vision, strategy, and AtmoSpirit principles and supporting wellness and safety initiatives. Implements policies, procedures, and standards to ensure proper administration of activities. Makes recommendations for revisions to or development of policies, procedures, and standards. Promotes a positive company image by participating in local civic and professional organizations. May represent the Company to regulatory authorities, public officials, customers, and the general public in company matters. Establishes business relationships with area developers, home builders, contractors, and economic/industrial development groups to increase gas sales and expand customer growth.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field and three years of related experience or General educational knowledge is typically acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and five years of related experience. Valid driver's license.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Requires the ability to provide explanations of technical or other complex matters to people with little or no background in the area under discussion.
NUMERIC SKILLS: Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages and simple statistical methods and make calculations to reconcile financial statements and accounts.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Requires basic computer skills to create standardized documents, reports, or graphics using various software.
WORK CONDITIONS: Works in both an indoor and outdoor environment. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and lifting.
