Description

We are seeking a diligent Accounting Clerk to start work immediately with an established organization in the Tuskegee, AL area. This Accounting Clerk position is a contract to hire employment opportunity. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing gifts to the institution, maintaining accurate records, and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Scrutinize all gifts, including matching corporate gifts, for proper processing and posting pledges and payments

• Reconcile and balance gift batches to ensure accuracy

• Handle credit card transactions from telemarketing services and fundraising websites, promptly addressing any issues such as declined credit cards

• Create donor records as needed to facilitate efficient gift processing

• Archive all gift information through computerized scanning and filing, ensuring all details are correct and conform to accounting principles

• Process and acknowledge gifts according to legally specified time limits, especially during the crucial calendar year-end period

• Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the role.

The ideal candidate will have skills in payment processing.

Requirements

• Proficiency in cash collections and cash reconciliations.

• Experience in check processing and payment processing.

• Familiarity with standard accounting software and tools.

• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills to handle large amounts of data.

• Familiarity with financial regulations in the higher education sector is an advantage.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Good communication skills to interact with students and staff.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
