Giffords 2025 Spring Undergraduate Internship: State Initative in TX, United States

Title: Undergraduate Intern

Hours: 10 - 25 hours per week for Spring 2025 

Location: fully remote; in Texas 

GIFFORDS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives from gun violence. Led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, GIFFORDS shifts culture, changes policies, and challenges injustice, inspiring Americans across the country to fight gun violence. We are looking for current college undergraduate students with at least one year of college experience to join our team during the Spring of 2025 as paid interns. The ideal GIFFORDS intern is highly organized, detail-oriented, a strong writer, and passionate about the issue of gun violence prevention.

Interns at GIFFORDS are paid $18.50 per hour. We will work with interns to gain academic credit if applicable. Start date is on or around January 2025 with a commitment of approximately 10-25 hours per week throughout the Spring with an end date in May 2025. 

Interns will work on one of our teams listed below to help support our ongoing efforts in the fight against gun violence. Exact team placement will be based on relevant experience of each intern and capacity needs of each team.

Duties + responsibilities:

State Initiatives Intern (required to work remotely from TX) 

  • Monitor Texas House and Senate committee hearings 

  • Research state policies and legislation

  • Help track and monitor relevant legislation in the Texas Legislature

  • Research various GVP issues as needed

  • Assist in committee hearing preparation

  • Participate in public facing events

  • Other tasks as assigned

     

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in or with the Texas Legislature is preferred, but not required
