Trane Technologies Lab Engineer in Tyler, Texas

This Lab Engineer provides technical support and supervision in the R&D Engineering Lab for a state-of-the-art testing facility customized for Residential HVAC applications. This role will sustain, plan, design, and improve current and future lab test capabilities.

Where is the work: Due to the nature of this role, this position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule, with work performed onsite 3 days each week.

Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):

  • Design, develop, improve, and sustain Engineering Lab test facilities and capabilities.

  • Develop detailed design documents and/or functional requirement specifications consistent with Trane Technologies standards.

  • Manage work effort provided by third party contractors.

  • Support Engineering Lab test facilities by troubleshooting both hardware and software.

  • Self-starter and ability to work under limited supervision.

  • Collaborate cross functionally.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • 2 years of engineering experience is preferred

Key Skills or Competencies:

  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Aptitude for mechanical and/or electrical equipment design required.

  • Project planning and organizational skills.

  • Familiar with basic electronics and able to troubleshoot electrical circuits.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to come to a data-driven solution.

Experiences that would be a plus:

  • Lean Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt.

  • Experience with lab test equipment or refrigeration system design.

  • Contractor or construction management experience.

  • Understanding of HVAC fundamentals.

  • Ability to read prints and schematics.

  • Ability to interpret and understand industry standards

  • Knowledge in any of these systems: 3D Modeling, ACAD, CREO

  • Knowledge of PLC/DAQ systems
