Air Combat Command CONSERVATION LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER in Tyndall AFB, Florida

The primary purpose of this position is to implement and manage the natural/cultural resources law enforcement program on Tyndall AFB. Designated Mission Essential Position. Responsibilities Serves as the Law Enforcement Officer representing Natural Resources Section in search/seizure or other joint law-enforcement. Manages the weapons and ammunition procurement, distribution, and storage. Works as the primary natural and cultural resources protection officer for the installation. Supports enforcement actions through court appearances as required. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications (Cont'd) Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions, for General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance Series, 1801. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of state and federal laws dealing with the protection and management of natural and cultural resources. Knowledge of analysis, evaluation, fact-finding, and investigative techniques in order to gather data, identify significant factors, and recommend a solution from a number of possible alternatives. Knowledge of the occupation to perform studies and prepare reports, documentation, and correspondence to communicate factual and procedural information clearly. OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge to perform conservation law enforcement duties gained through successful completion of the Land Management Police Training (LMPT) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Knowledge and training in First Responder and CPR. Knowledge and experience in concepts, principles, and fundamentals of fish and wildlife law enforcement programs. Requires knowledge of state and federal laws dealing with the protection and management of natural and cultural resources. Requires knowledge of threatened and endangered species management, protection, and laws. Knowledge and experience in crime scene protection and management. Requires knowledge and experience in suspect interrogation, apprehension, and arrest. Requires skill, competency, and ability at firing and qualifying with a M9 handgun. Requires knowledge of outdoor recreation activities including, but not limited to hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and hiking. Ability to work cooperatively with other agencies and personnel. Requires ability to communicate effectively with the public. Requires ability to remain in control in contentious situations. Ability and skill at operating a 4X4 vehicle, ATV, boat and motor, canoe, chain saw, and farm equipment. Requires the possession and maintenance of a valid driver's license. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
