Title:  Production Manager

Reports To:  Plant Manager

Status:  Full-Time/Salary Exempt (45-50 hours/week; additional hours as needed to support organization and individual goals)

 

Job Summary

Directs and coordinates all production personnel, utilizing effective human relations skills and operating procedures to effectively accomplish production requirements: meeting goals for safety, quality, efficiency, inventory, labor requirements, and delivery. Act as the key contact at the plant for production processes; act as the staff-level liaison between production and all other departments.

 

Essential Job Functions

  1. Promotes safety awareness, educates, and enforces all safety rules throughout the plant with the goal set at zero plant-related injuries.
  2. Utilize manufacturing resources regarding production planning and scheduling to analyze daily schedules and evaluate methods for forecasting of finished goods to ensure production requirements are met; including interface with purchasing to ensure that there is enough raw material and supplies to maintain production needs. Ensure accuracy and timeliness in the completion of reports related to production output and efficiency.
  3. Coordinate all production personnel utilizing effective human relations skills, through the application of plant policies/procedures while motivating employee engagement and satisfaction by giving positive reinforcement and constructive criticism when necessary to maintain a harmonious working environment.
  4. Interface with the Human Resources Department to maintain the necessary manpower requirements, perform employee evaluations, and assist with personnel issues/disciplinary actions.
  5. Construct and maintain productive employee relationships, motivating employee engagement and satisfaction.
  6. Coordinate education, training, and teamwork of supervisors and associates to develop the skills necessary to effectively accomplish production requirements.
  7. Maintain continuous communication with all departments to ensure manufacturing priorities and shortfalls are addressed in a timely manner.
  8. Interface with the Engineering Department to support the introduction of new products and processes by evaluating and recommending lean manufacturing methods for the production floor, assuring their continuity into production.
  9. Actively participate in improvement actions and Lean/Kaizen activities on the production floor; including interface with engineering and various other departments to generate recommendations for improvement of operations; or modifications for changing conditions as necessary.
  10. Assist with short and long-range forecasting of business trends.
  11. Follow IATF-16949/ISO 14001 policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Associate's/Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 10 years experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer relations, communication, and team skills
  • Advanced computer and organization skills
