Position Summary:
This position clarifies company policies and procedures, investigates employee grievances and assists management in the proper interpretation and consistent application to ensure a fair and consistent resolution.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:
Assists management in the proper interpretation and application of company policies and consistent application of discipline procedures
Provides guidance to departments to create and manage employee performance improvement plans
Investigates and documents employee complaints and grievances to ensure compliance and a fair resolution
Assists in training management on company policies and procedures in order to improve employee relations and management skills
Facilitates appeals processes to ensure the fair treatment of all Mohegan Sun employees (i.e. Administrative Requests, Boards of Reviews and Step 5 Appeals)
Recommends reviews and processes employee discipline and terminations
Manages specialized projects (i.e. unemployment claims, translations, licensing review, policy review and surveys)
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews and approves departmental re-bids
Trains employees to participate in the Board of Review Process
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
Associates’ Degree in Human Resources or a related field
Must have two years of Employee Relations or supervisory experience
Working knowledge of employment laws and experience in resolving employee grievances
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must have proficiency in Word and Excel
In lieu of a Degree and previously mentioned experience, four years of Employee Relations or supervisory experience may be considered
Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
Thorough understanding of company policies
Remains objective, exercises sound judgment and ensures confidentiality
Training Requirements:
Knowledge of Mohegan Sun corporate and department policies and procedures
Must complete the Core Supervisor Training course
Must complete the Core Business Training course
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Office work environment
Must be able to sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time
Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
