JBT currently has a great opportunity for a Manufacturing Production Manager to join the Proseal team just south of Manchester. Proseal UK Ltd is a company that designs and manufactures high quality tray sealing and conveying systems for the food industry and has manufacturing facilities in the UK, North America, and Australia. Having been established for 25 years, demand for the Proseal product is growing and we are responsible for developing many plastic-based alternatives for preserving the life of and carrying food safely. Formed in 1998, Proseal has not only become the leading manufacturer of tray sealing machinery and tooling in the UK but is now also recognised as a major force internationally with manufacturing facilities in United states and Australia along with offices in Ireland, Holland, Spain, Canada, South America, and Dubai. Shift Pattern/Working Hours: Monday to Friday, with a 30 minutes unpaid lunch break each day and two paid 15 minutes per day. A total of 40 hours per week. The Opportunity ... Your new role: Your role as Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a Proseal machine shop, representing a broad range of manufacturing processes whilst maintaining a safe working environment. This role involves managing a team of machinists, coordinating, and implementing quality control measures. The Machine Shop Supervisor plays a crucial role in optimizing workflow, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that KPI's are met. The supervisor needs to be effective in a fast-paced and agile environment. Responsibilities: Ensure all activities undertaken and supervised are carried out in accordance with all current Health and Safety guidance, and that all shortcomings are actioned/reported as appropriate. Overall responsibility for departmental operations to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery and cost goals for the business and its internal/external customers Lead team members, ensuring adequate staffing levels, providing technical direction and drive improvements in accordance to departmental KPI’s Manage personnel performance, including employee reviews, time and attendance, overtime assignments, employee training. Ensure through inspection and PUWER, equipment, and tools are compliant, in good working order, and available for use when required. Workflow Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvement and workflow optimization. Streamline production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times. Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure that machines are properly maintained and serviced. Address equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime. Aptitudes Required: Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team. A hands-on approach to work, with a willingness to lead from the front. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and their application in a manufacturing environment. Strong in problem solving, team building and decision making. Ability to establish and maintain relationships at all levels. Experience: 5 or more years in a leadership or direct supervisory role in a manufacturing/assembly environment. Organizational, communication, and leadership skills, backed by previous success. Working knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, production, and employee management. Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity. Ability to streamline or implement structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business demands. Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines. Qualifications: Level 5 technical qualification or equivalent engineering/manufacturing degree/NVQ. Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics, using business management software (eg: SAP, ERP, CRM). Experience/understanding of lean manufacturing, KAIZEN, Six Sigma, green belt (CI) Why work at JBT ...
