JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Geosciences at Penn State seeks an Education Program Coordinator to assist with administrative and financial functions while providing excellent customer service. You will be integral to the International GeoBiology Course (IGC), the Consortium for Planetary and Exoplanetary Science and Technology (CPEST), and Dr. Kate Freeman's lab.

What You'll Do:

  1. Oversee coordination, planning, and arranging of the IGC and affiliated events Mini-Symposium, including:

Coordinate field trips, guest speakers, and course activities (both at Penn State and abroad).

Arrange catering, book venues, and manage internal/external lodging logistics.

Oversee/facilitate course registration and tuition payments.

Order supplies and collect all course documents.

Reconcile expenses, process honorarium payments, and create the final budget report.

Manage communications: create announcement/marketing emails, maintain listserv, and serve as the first point of contact for course-related communications.

Maintain and update the course webpage.

Create job postings for undergraduate students.

Arrange recurring IGC Alumni Meetings at the AGU Conference.

  1. Oversee coordination, planning, and arranging of CPEST events:

Coordinate venues, guest speaker visits, and lodging logistics.

Order supplies and compose event/visitor schedules.

Reconcile expenses and create the final budget report.

Manage communications: create announcement/marketing emails, maintain listserv, and update webpage content.

  1. Aid in Dr. Freeman's lab operations:

Order supplies and reconcile travel expenses.

Ensure new students meet Penn State lab safety training requirements.

Interface with OPP and manage calendars.

Assist with award reporting.

Required Qualifications: This position requires a High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degree or higherplus two years of related experienceor an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information: This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with the possibility of re-funding.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $38,300.00 - $55,500.00
