JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Pennsylvania State University (http://psu.edu/%22%20/t%20%22_blank) Office of Budget and Finance invites applications for the position of Financial Associate to support financial operations of the College of Health and Development, Department of Kinesiology . This position is intended to provide a dditional support when vacancies or projects requiring additional help occur. This important role is geared towards providing comprehensive financial support to faculty and staff in a cademic and/or administrative units. The Financial Associate processes various financial transactions, and adheres to the approved systems of internal control and financial management.
The Financial Associate will have a broad range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Assisting in timely reconciliation of purchasing card transactions, using SAP Concur
Processing travel reimbursements, adhering to University policies and procedures as well as funding source spending guidelines
Processing purchase orders and various catalog orders, including confirming receipt of Goods/Services
Reviewing and entry of a variety of journal entries into the University Financial system
Providing excellent customer service and advising on policy and procedures – consulting with Financial Manager and Financial Officer for resolution
Processing accurate and timely payments using various methods: purchasing card, purchase order, non-po invoice
Setup and monitor course fees and research fees for service and resolve expenses against fees as appropriate
Review and recommend improvements to finance and budget related processes and procedures
Provide support for departmental researchers related to post award management, including but not limited to:
Provide guidance to faculty in interpreting sponsor and university guidelines and ensuring guidelines are followed
Collaborate with PI’s and technical staff to track resource expenditures against project schedule
Compare spending with the planned work to ensure program deliverables (utilizing SIMS)
Assist with the management of the financial requirements of sponsored project close-out
Education and Experience
Excellent customer service skills with a focus on providing supportive and responsive service
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work both independently and as a team
Team player attitude with a commitment to creating a positive and efficient working environment
Knowledge of the University’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, System for Integrated Management, Budgeting, and Accounting - SIMBA (SAP/S4HANA) and SAP Concur desired; however, displaying a willingness to learn is more important
This position will be filled at the Senior Support level. An Associate's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination or education and experience is minimally required.
This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work (3 days onsite and 2 days remote). Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
Penn State is embarking on a project to restructure the University’s financial functions to move towards a centralized, service hub-based structure. This position is intended to initially support the unit(s) and functions listed in this posting, however it is expected to evolve over time relative to the overall restructuring. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
