JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State IT (http://www.it.psu.edu/) provides IT services in support of the teaching, research, and outreach mission objectives of the University. Infrastructure Core Services within Penn State IT is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, and collaborative team player to fill a part-time intern position within the Network Field Technician group.

The successful candidate will support the existing team members in the installation of voice, data, and network infrastructure and/or components to meet design specifications. Duties include but are not limited to the initial configuring and racking of network switches and uninterruptable power supplies, the installation and troubleshooting of VoIP telephones and access points, and the pulling, labeling, and testing of fiber optic and copper cables.

This position requires strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across (technical and service) teams, enthusiastically learn new skills, and handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
