JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

OVERVIEW

Penn State Career Services is seeking to fill a part-time position (up to 24 hours per week) for the 2024 – 2025 academic year. This position will occur primarily in person, within the Bank of America Career Services Center. The main goals of this position are to provide individual career coaching services to undergraduate and graduate students at Penn State, assist in coordinating various programs and events, deliver workshops on a wide variety of career topics, assist with implementing the University-wide Career Readiness initiative, and assist in onboarding and training undergraduate peer assistants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Assist students through brief (15-minute) drop-in career coaching sessions

· Deliver educational workshops and programs to student organizations and classes

· Coordinate various programs and events and contribute to all other events hosted by Career Services, such as career fairs and open houses

· Assist with the outreach and coordination related to the University-wide Career Readiness initiative

· Support onboarding and training of Career Services undergraduate student staff

· Participate in student services staff meetings and all-staff meetings

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Ideal applicants possess a desire to actively contribute to the career development of Penn State undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, coaching/advising skills, and organizational skills. Priority will be given to applicants who can express and offer supporting evidence for a commitment to equity and inclusion as well as a spirit of teamwork and collaboration. Preference will be given to those who have had training and experience in career services.
