JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering in the College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to be co-supervised by Dr. Christine Costello and Dr. Juliana Vasco-Correa in techno-economic and life-cycle assessment of bioprocesses and agricultural systems at The Pennsylvania State University. The Postdoctoral Scholar will work in the laboratories of Dr. Juliana Vasco-Correa and Dr. Christine Costello on the C-CHANGE (Consortium for Cultivating Human and Naturally reGenerative Enterprises) project performing Anaerobic Digestion modeling for PA dairy farms to evaluate the biogas potential in the region using a range of feedstocks that are economically viable. The postdoc will be working on a large team and will be expected to communicate across teams to integrate project-specific data into modeling. The postdoc will lead projects, collaborate with graduate students and researchers in other projects, and provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students. The postdoc is expected to publish research findings in international peer-reviewed journals, present research findings in conferences/meetings, and generate regular project update reports. The postdoc will receive mentorship and professional development opportunities tailored to their career goals.

Qualifications: The selected candidate will have PhD in Biological, Chemical, Agricultural, Biosystems, or Environmental Engineering; or other related disciplines. Experience in bioprocessing research and techno-economic analysis and/or life-cycle assessment is required. The candidate should be familiar with agricultural systems, anaerobic digestion, bioconversion, bioprocessing, and bioproducts. The candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills, experience working on teams, expertise on integrating lab data into modeling, and a track record of peer-reviewed publication.

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in an appropriate field and be able to provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D. prior to the effective date of hire.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire with a good possibility of refunding.

This position will be located at Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania.
