JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Student Affairs (https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/get-involved) at Penn State University is seeking an inaugural Program Coordinator for a newly established initiative – the student resource hub. The primary goals of the resource hub are to contribute to student success and to foster student belonging. This presidential initiative is a partnership with student leaders, who identified the need to assist their peers in navigating University resources. The University is seeking a culturally competent, innovative, and student-centered professional to assist with the implementation, enhancement, and assessment of the student resource hub.

The resource hub – called MyResource – will serve students by providing them with customizable information about the multiple units and resources that contribute to the student experience. The initiative is composed of two primary tiers: Tier 1 will be an online, interactive, self-service virtual assistant; Tier 2 will be an office at the University Park campus that will provide personal assistance for students across the University to connect with the expansive resources available to assist with student success. The Program Coordinator will spend most of their time working on Tier 2 but will assist the newly hired Director with both Tiers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Student Staff Supervision – Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate 20-30 student staff. Develop a thorough training program to help the students learn about the online platform, how to find information about student support resources, and when to escalate a question or situation to other staff. Create a weekly schedule that will allow for the office to be open seven days/week. Build a student staff professional development and advancement program. Train the student staff to deliver student resource hub presentations.

  • Program Development – Participate in the administration and interpretation of assessment efforts. Aid in the ongoing evaluation and training of the virtual assistant. Develop, implement, and present outreach programs to educate the University community about accessing the resource hub. Identify and schedule partners to sit in the office and respond directly to students’ questions/inquiries (e.g., academic advisers, family financial and life skills center staff).

  • Relationship Building and Management Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to effectively identify the questions that students repeatedly ask so that the answers can be provided through the resource hub. Ensure that the resource hub is accessible and inclusive, addressing the needs of a diverse student population. Assist the Director with the facilitation of the Student Advisory Board.

  • Preference will be given to candidates who understand current trends in higher education and supervise student staff. Candidates should have experience working with diverse student populations and engaging with student employees and leaders.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
