JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Physical Plant (OPP) seeks a talented and motivated Project Manager - Advanced Professional to join our Project Management Office (PMO). This position will report to the PMO Manager, and the focus of this position is to provide effective project management on various large initiatives across OPP. The selected candidate will be responsible for all projects being delivered on-time, within budget, and with a high-quality outcome to OPP business operations. This individual needs to be an ambitious and dedicated professional who will continue to build upon our values and reputation as a trusted partner for our business areas.

This position also collaborates with leadership to ensure that the project management provided across the organization meets exceptional standards. This position fosters a positive culture committed to inclusion, diversity, and investment in staff by understanding the talent needs of the business areas, providing training and opportunities for professional development, and fostering a connection to the University and Office of the Physical Plant mission and goals.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Interact frequently with project sponsors and stakeholders; use appropriate project management strategies for implementing requirements across a broad range of programs and initiatives.

  • Contribute and lead team/project meetings to communicate project timelines, milestones, and updates.

  • Conduct project management activities such as communicating with resource managers, team leads, etc. to track project milestones and keep the focus on delivering project commitments.

  • Develop, create, facilitate, and enhance the templates, checklists, and all items related to project management such as project definitions, work breakdowns, rough order estimates, project plans, communication plans, and project schedules and specifications.

  • Interact regularly with project teams for enterprise wide, multi-year projects.

  • Research solutions to project management issues using the appropriate resources; lead short-term, tactical projects of various types.

  • Interface with vendors for procurement, RFPs and maintenance of all projects, as well as, coordinate, resolve, or assist in resolution of conflicts and other issues within and between project teams and recommend/provide solutions.

  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy regarding the information being processed, stored, and accessed by the OPP network and systems.

  • Display strong analytical ability, business acumen, judgment, and problem-solving skills.

  • Communicate with, understand the needs of, build trust, and buy-in with various stakeholders across the organization, including external vendors.

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with campus leadership, department managers and supervisors, and other professionals across the University.

​ Education and experience:

This position minimally requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus at least 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; project management industry certification or equivalent relevant education/experience is also required.

We are seeking candidates with a strong commitment to customer service, substantial technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving analysis and critical thinking skills, quality verbal and written communication and presentation skills, the ability to learn new things quickly and independently, and high performance in a team environment and a proven ability to work successfully in a diverse work environment are required.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$76,700.00 - $115,100.00
