JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS) at Penn State seeks a Research Engineering Project Manager to join our Project Management team.

Work Arrangement: This position has the potential to be a hybrid of remote and on-site work, with a minimum of 2-3 days per week on-site, and may not be supportive of fully remote work.

This is a limited-term position with funding currently available for the next two (2) years and an excellent chance for renewal.

The responsibilities of this position include the following:

Facilitate research computing-based projects, including daily oversight and collaboration with investigators, sponsors, technical staff, and financial teams to ensure the delivery of project commitments;

Engage faculty to identify opportunities for direct cost recovery of ICDS resources and services;

Monitor project budget, resources, and reports to ensure successful execution;

Provides subject matter expertise in both the engineering discipline and project management;

This role will work closely with Penn State senior faculty and affiliated investigators, ensuring the progress of project aims within established timelines.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

3+ years of experience preferred.

Required qualifications and skills include the following:

One to three years of engineering and project management experience;

Experience coordinating and executing on strategic objectives tied to research computing;

Expertise in relating effectively with faculty and managing relationships across institutions;

Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

Impeccable ethics and integrity with a strong work ethic;

and excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.

Additional desired qualifications and skills include the following: Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate experience and skills in developing and delivering communications internally within a university setting as well as the ability to give talks to external audiences for workshops and annual reporting to funding agencies. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to provide candid and constructive feedback to help others accept and implement findings and recommendations across technical teams. It would also be helpful if candidates had experience developing and contributing to broader impact objectives, such as community building for diversity, equity, and inclusion, in coordination with the principal investigator(s), focused on implementation and outcomes, or show similar or transferable skills and experience.

ICDS works with a diverse group of researchers from more than 70 academic departments from nearly all of Penn State's academic colleges and campuses, facilitating new collaborations, funding new areas of research, collaborating to overcome computational and data science challenges, building a diverse community of scholars, and providing a robust research computing for the Pe n State community. ICDS seeks to equip researchers with cutting-edge computing tools and data analysis services to further their science. This position will provide critical support to that mission.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $76,700.00 - $115,100.00
