The Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign announces a new position for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty member in program or policy evaluation with expertise in qualitative and/or mixed methods. The ideal candidate will have an emerging or established track record of published scholarship in evaluation and field experience as an evaluator. We are seeking a scholar who employs social justice approaches in educational and social inquiry (e.g., equity-focused, values-engaged, culturally responsive, decolonizing, and/or Indigenous perspectives). Other areas of interest include but are not limited to candidates who have expertise in (1) evaluation transnationally, cross-culturally, and/or outside of the United States; and (2) evaluation and research using artificial intelligence or other emergent technologies, especially with attention to their relational, ethical, and validity considerations.

Position Responsibilities and Minimum Qualifications : This is a full-time, academic year (9 months salaried over 12 months), tenured or tenure-track position. Candidates must hold an earned doctoral degree in evaluation, educational psychology, social research methodology, or a closely related field. Candidates will be expected to attract and mentor qualified graduate students, teach graduate and undergraduate courses in evaluation and qualitative or mixed methods, and provide meaningful service both within the university and in outside communities.

All successful candidates will be expected to provide evidence of teaching and mentoring ability. Competitive candidates with previous faculty positions should have experience teaching and mentoring graduate students in research methodologies and/or evaluation. In Educational Psychology at Illinois, our graduate programs reflect an apprenticeship model where students gain considerable experience in conducting evaluations and research through faculty members\' funded projects. At the Associate or Full Professor level, we are interested in a faculty member who has a solid track-record of funded projects to serve this need. At the Assistant level, we look for strong indications of the ability to secure funded projects and co-publish with graduate students.

Salary: The budgeted salary range for the position is \$78,000 to \$90,000 at the Assistant Professor level, \$90,000 to \$115,000 at the Associate Professor level, and \$115,00 to \$130,000 at the Full Professor level, for a 9-month service basis paid over 12 months. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience an qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.

Start Date: The proposed starting date for this position is August 16, 2025.
