Urbana Country Club PM Sous Chef-Urbana Country Club in Urbana, Illinois

The Sous Chef at Urbana Country Club will play a critical role in supporting the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations. This position requires a dedicated professional with a refined palate, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for culinary excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in high-end dining, creativity in menu development, and the ability to inspire and mentor a team of culinary professionals.

  • Culinary Leadership: Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and taste.

  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create innovative and seasonal menus that reflect the Club’s commitment to culinary excellence.

  • Team Management: Lead and inspire the culinary team, providing mentorship, training, and development to ensure a cohesive and efficient kitchen operation.

  • Quality Control: Maintain strict quality control measures, including portion sizes, presentation, and overall food preparation.

  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing inventory, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of all food products, ensuring cost control and minimizing waste.

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all kitchen operations comply with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

  • Event Coordination: Work closely with the Events and Catering team to execute high-end events, including weddings, corporate functions, and private dinners.

  • Innovation: Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the dining experience for our members through new techniques, trends, and culinary innovations.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-end kitchen, with at least 2 years in a leadership role as a Sous Chef or equivalent.

  • Education: Culinary degree or equivalent professional training required.

  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage a team effectively.

  • Creativity: A passion for creating exceptional and innovative dishes, with a keen eye for detail and presentation.

  • Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of various cooking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and international cuisine.

  • Work Ethic: Strong commitment to quality, consistency, and a relentless drive for excellence.
