Naviga Inc. Assistant Controller in US, United States
Position Overview: The Assistant Controller is responsible for daily accounting transactions, accounting procedures, and financial reporting. Directs and coordinates the daily activities of the accounting specialists. Assists Global Controller in all financial functions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversees the daily accounting activities required to maintain the general ledger.
Establishes and enforces working procedures and processes for accounting personnel.
Responsible for global consolidation and foreign currency accounting.
Responsible for intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Implements new approaches as necessary to enhance workflow of the department. Provides training to new and existing staff as needed.
Works with each direct report to establish performance goals and objectives for each year. Monitors and advises progress to objectives and works to enhance the professional development of staff.
Prepares and enters monthly adjusting journal entries.
Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
Analyzes and reconciles accounts as required.
Produces quarterly and annual financial statements and ad hoc reports.
Manages monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities.
Responds to requests from senior leadership for reporting.
Other duties as assigned by the Global Controller.
Education, Experience, and Requirements
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting required;
Five or more years’ experience in senior level accounting role
Master’s degree and CPA preferred
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
· Experience working in a Global environment, including multi-currency and multi-entity accounting.
Experience with Sage Intacct, Net Suite, or similar systems
Ability to analyze situations within policy and legal frameworks
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions
Willingness to make decisions as necessary and appropriate in accordance with established policies and procedures
Self-starter who will take initiative to effect positive change
Proficiency Microsoft Office
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged information and professionalism at all times
Accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
English fluency
Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%
Willingness and ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays on an ad hoc basis
