SUNY Polytechnic Institute invites applications for Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. The College of Arts & Sciences has four departments that oversee seven undergraduate programs- applied mathematics, biology, communication & media design, interactive media & game design, interdisciplinary studies, psychology, and sociology - as well as graduate programs in data science & analytics and information design & technology. The College supports the education of every SUNY Poly student, regardless of major, because of its commitment to General Education, and offers the most extensive array of minors at SUNY Poly. We are seeking a dean who will join the senior leadership team at SUNY Poly and drive the vision and mission of the College in a way that advances SUNY Poly's 2024 Strategic Plan
The Dean will have a commitment to advancing a world-class College with a focus on growing enrollment, attracting and retaining highly qualified, diverse faculty, and creating initiatives and programs to maximize the College's potential. The Dean is responsible for the fiscal health of the College and will lead and oversee the budget process for the College to ensure that there are sufficient resources for growth and development, as well as the advancement of the SUNY Poly Strategic Plan, published in early 2024. The Dean is responsible for actively supporting interdisciplinary research and education, expanding the output of faculty research and scholarship, and ensuring the continued positive impact of the College in the Mohawk Valley. This position has the authority to assist in determining, creating, affecting policy for the SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
Overseeing strategic planning for college and provide leadership to faculty and staff, encouraging a sense of academic community and the vision, commitment, and integrity necessary to define and accomplish the Institution's goals.
Take a proactive role in acting as an external champion with key college stakeholder to advance the college mission, promote external funding and investment, and build scholarship/endowment support for the Institution's initiative
Proactively supporting and advancing the vision of SUNY Poly-both externally and internally-and supporting the unified SUNY Poly leadership; advancing and promoting the institution as a whole as well as an individual college
Develop relationships with various stakeholders across the College and broader community to achieve excellence in the College's teaching, research and service.
Effectively recruit and evaluate faculty, staff and administrators as well as professional development of employees.
Manage state, Federal and private resources provided to the college strategically, fairly and effectively, and take initiative to seek out and generate external resources.
Provide direction and support to departments to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies.

Salary: $150,000 - $160,000

- Faculty and support staff in the assigned college.
Minimum Requirements:
A Doctoral Degree from a College or University accredited by the US Department of Education or other internationally recognized accrediting organization. Experience in a role with responsibilities within academic administration at the departmental or similar level and successful experience in college or university teaching.
Must have a record of professional achievement commensurate with appointment at the level of Full Professor.
Should possess excellent communication skills and be able to effectively communicate, collaborate, and possess the ability to convey messages and information clearly, concisely and that are in support of the vision, mission and values of SUNY Poly/ Must possess the flexibility and capacity to oversee, prioritize and execute a variety of strategic partnerships and initiatives and multiple projects concurrently.
Has an obligation to demonstrate and understand the compliance in a regulatory environment covering research and education program administration.
Must be able to manage complex business matters and transactions in a dynamic environment.
Needs to demonstrate leadership qualities to effectively supervise a team of professional employees. Has an obligation to respond to requests or questions outside of normally scheduled work hours at times
