Summary:

The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service (PM&R) is growing at WMCHealth in Valhalla, NY. We are seeking specialty trained Physician Assistant (PA) to join our multidisciplinary care team. In this position, the PA team will work alongside experienced attending physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APP) colleagues medically managing a variety of PM&R patients throughout their inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation journey. This PA will be managing the front-line day-to-day care of adult patients on both the outpatient setting, as well as, supporting the inpatient consultation teams. The PA will be responsible for managing a wide array of patients from various subspecialties, inclusive of a strong patient population within neurology, orthopedics, medicine, and neurosurgery.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing medical evaluations, treatment, follow-up and inpatient consultations for diverse disease processes amongst PM&R admissions

  • Medically triaging and managing outpatient rehabilitation care for patients with a variety of acute/chronic myopathy, brain injury, traumas, stroke, transplant, and other acute/chronic ailments with generalized debility

  • Collaborating with a dedicated team of Physiatrists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Rehabilitation Nurses, and Social Workers.

  • Delivering direct patient care as part of a collaborative patient care team alongside GME.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Candidates must be board certified as a Physician Assistant and possess or be eligible to obtain an applicable New York State license.

  • Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 1-year clinical experience, although highly motivated new graduates with interest and abilities in neurosciences/ orthopedics or surgery/medicine subspecialty will be considered and are encouraged to apply.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Shift/Status:

  • Full time, exempt position

  • 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts

  • No weekends, no call
