Continental External Service Technician in Valparaiso, Indiana

As an External Service Technician, you will:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance onsite at customer sites.

  • Travel to scheduled service calls.

  • Calibrate crimpers at customer sites.

  • Respond to emergency service calls at customer sites within a 48-hour timeframe.

  • Partner with the Service team to answer internal service calls.

  • Schedule trips to customer sites, book travel accommodations, and follow the Expense Reporting policy to properly account for expenses.

  • Using parts list, assemble individual travel kits for use at customer sites.

  • Continuously seek opportunities to expand the external service program.

  • Perform additional ad hoc assembly tasks as assigned.

Hours: 7:00am – 3:00pm with possibility of overtime approximately 5-10 hours per week depending on travel.

Air travel required approximately 50%. Remaining working time will be spent working onsite at the Valparaiso plant.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

  • Minimum of 2 years in a service technician role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Willingness to work 8-hour shift plus overtime as needed.

  • Intermediate computer skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to perform tasks outside of department as needed.

  • Experience operating a forklift, pallet jack, and/or hoist.

  • Experience working with assembling components.

  • General understanding of basic safety procedures.

  • Experience with SAP.
