POSITION SUMMARY: The Estimator II position reports to the Estimating Manager of their Service Line and supports their discipline background in support of a bid pursuit. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Prepare accurate quantity surveys and estimates for those divisions of the project as assigned Complete assignments in agreed upon time frame Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier quotations or scheduling input as required for the assignments Participate in plan review and estimate reviews for respective projects Assist in compiling historical cost data for projects Confirm list of subcontractors/suppliers proposing on the project Collaborate with Architects/Engineers to request clarifications or additional information Attend project meetings and perform site investigations as assigned Become familiar with all estimating software Lead Estimator Designation: When the Estimator II is designated as the Lead Estimator on an estimate, the following additional responsibilities will be required: Supervise and line out all people on the bid team, provide adequate information to team members and establish bidding schedule with deadlines. Assure successful kick off meetings, mid-bid reviews, and final reviews. Get the Regional VP of Operations involved if they are available. Review and understand owner provided specifications and documentation for all portions of the work and ensure the needed costs have been incorporated into the estimate. Perform final reviews at least two (2) days before bid due date. Review all work performed by team members. Critically analyze each aspect of the estimate to ensure a competitive bid. Apply appropriate labor rates and methods of construction based on provided information and expected site conditions. Explore options which could shorten the construction schedules and minimize indirects and construction equipment. Recognize risks and apply contingency and escalation when appropriate. Know when and how to capitalize on opportunities. Qualifications EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating. Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering or equivalent experience preferred. 2-5 Years of estimating experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations. When on-site, actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors. Set a personal example
