SMT Inspector

SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a full-service electronics manufacturing company seeking an experienced SMT Inspector to join their facility in Vancouver, WA. This company provides prototype and full-turnkey production services for a wide range of customers in the medical, defense, aerospace, unmanned systems, industrial and instrumentation sectors.

  • Day Shift: Monday-Thursday 5:30am-3:30pm with optional Overtime on Friday

  • $20-$23/hour DOE

    Primary Function:

    The SMT Inspector is responsible for inspecting circuit boards.

    Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

  • IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certified and retain those certifications.

  • IPC-7711certified if team indicates the need for more qualified personnel.

  • Inspect assemblies using 3D AOI system and pass or fail per IPC-A-610 class.

  •  Inspect assemblies at Final inspection and pass or fail per IPC-A-610 class.

  • SMT and Final QA SFE certified and maintain that certification.

  • Complete defect tracking in database.

  • Complete AS9102 FA reports and submit to QA.

  • Operate either x-ray machines per work instructions.

  • Operate AOI systems per work instructions.

  • Run in-line and batch washers per work instruction.

  • Use the MES to track time the status of jobs.

  • Create and complete non-conformances/DMR’s.

  • Ability to read, understand, and navigate in Fusion documentation.

  • Help to update procedures and work instructions as needed to match current process.

  • Maintain 6S standards and continually look for ways to improve processes.

  • Follow safety, ESD, ITAR and QMS protocols.

  • Actively participate in Lean activities and embrace change.

  • Follow the procedures as defined in the QMS that pertain to your area or position. Help update procedures and work instructions as needed to match the current process.

    Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • Knowledge of and ability to inspect to IPC-A-610

  • Experience inspecting through a microscope

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills

  • Good writing skills

  • Ability to work within a team

  • Basic computer skills.

  • IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certified preferred

  • Prior Final Inspection experience in the electronics industry preferred

  • Prior inspection experience preferred

    Work Environment:

    LAB: Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
