Overview

The Motor Vehicle Examiner II is a fast-paced position that requires dealing with large numbers of customers every day. Candidates should be able to work independently and make informed decisions. Attention to detail is critical. The ability to process large sums of money and excellent customer service skills are required for this position. This is not a remote position and work will take place within the Rutland DMV office. It is anticipated that this position will work up until 40 hours per week.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed mostly outside in the field and some in an office setting. Incumbents must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure before the public eye. Due to significant public contact, exposure to contagious illnesses is a daily risk. The incumbent will be working in all weather conditions (rain, wintery slippery roads etc.). Incumbents must be able to multi-task and remain on task to complete their daily schedule. Considerable human relations skills are required to deal with confused, frustrated, nervous, upset, or hostile applicants. Incumbents may be required to take over the operation of a motor vehicle in the interest of personal and public safety. Riding in various vehicles in which the incumbent has little control of the operator of the vehicle and/or environmental conditions of the vehicle or roadway. The incumbent must be able to travel to other offices with minimal notice to assist when staffing shortages occur and various scheduled hours. Private means of transportation may be required. Some overtime work may be required. Incumbents must be able to carry heavy objects of up to 50 pounds. A uniform must be worn during work hours.
