The Post Award Financial Analyst will support sponsored programs managed by The Research Foundation for SUNY at Binghamton University. The position requires a significant emphasis on customer service, financial monitoring, and an understanding and ability to interpret complex regulations, requirements and terms and conditions to ensure compliance.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Administration, the Post Award Financial Analyst will work closely with colleagues within research administration to ensure seamless delivery of services to our internal and external sponsored programs community.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Become familiar with federal regulations and sponsor award terms, in addition to Binghamton University and Research Foundation policy; be able and willing to interpret and apply such regulations as they pertain to the administration of grants and contracts.

  • Establish and maintain new awards, projects and tasks in the ORACLE business system; verify accuracy of key information on award coding sheet prior to establishment.

  • Monitors post award activities to ensure compliance for issues involving allowable costs, re-budgeting and reporting requirements, faculty time and effort monitoring, cost sharing and spending limitations.

  • Review payroll and fellowships appointments in keeping with award specifics and budget restrictions; ensure salary expenses are fiscally and programmatically allowable and discuss with investigators.

  • Review, monitor and report on cost share obligations as required.

  • Monitors compliance with sponsored project related time and effort commitments and federal effort reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate timely effort reporting certification; assist certifiers with process and provide training when necessary.

  • Work with the PI and research administration to close out awards in accordance with the sponsor and SUNY RF closeout guidelines and requirements.

  • Respond to inquiries or requests for assistance as they relate to post award financial management.

  • Assist in the preparation of materials related to audit inquiries for internal, sponsor, federal or state audits.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other organizational units on and off campus.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business related field with two years' experience in a relevant professional position.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and related databases.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment.

  • Able to work both independently as well as with a team.

  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to present information to diverse individuals and groups.

Preferred:

  • Experience with sponsored programs administration and/or knowledge of higher education administration

    Additional Information:

Salary: $52,500 Annually. Please note, this position involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work and will require the incumbent to be onsite 100% of the time.
