Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for candidates with Bachelor's Degrees for Scientific and Engineering Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL) at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is seeking a highly qualified candidate with background in Civil, Coastal, or Risk Engineering located in Vicksburg, MS. Responsibilities Developing and applying innovative large-scale, geomorphic assessment techniques and analyses on regional and project-specific coastal systems Experience and/or willingness to cross interdisciplinary specialties in the areas of coastal and riverine sediment processes, statistics, programming and working with large spatio-temporal datasets, programming and technical writing Using specialized knowledge and skills, works with members of the Coastal Engineering Branch to develop and conduct research on coastal sediment transport, hydrodynamics and beneficial use of dredged material assessment Ability to convey results concisely to federal and local sponsors through written reports and oral communication Interacting with Program Managers, Technical Directors and sponsor organizations to determine existing and future potential coastal engineering and navigation research needs Perform technology transfer of information and developed tools to sponsors and customers at stakeholder meetings, peers and colleagues at workshops, training courses, and national and international conferences Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: Only applicants who meet one of the employment authority categories below are eligible to apply for this job. In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1988, Laboratory Demonstration Project employees must have a current average performance score of at least 2.5 or equivalent (fully successful rating) for promotion consideration. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
