POSITION TITLE: Mold Maker - Coordinator (Days)
LOCATION: Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NY
HOURLY PAY RANGE: $31.00/hr - $40.00/hr.
SHIFT HOURS: (8am to 5:00pm)

JOB SUMMARY: The Mold Maker - Coordinator is responsible for final assembly of prototype and high-volume production plastic injection molds and the coordination of its components throughout the Mold Making Department. They will also be responsible for modifications, repairs and maintenance of existing molds. The Mold Maker – Coordinator will provide daily schedules for mold making work centers such as milling, wire EDM, and sinker EDM along with status updates of current mold builds. This skill set will include working from CAD models and related documentation to fabricate complex mold components. The Mold Maker - Coordinator promotes a work environment that is positive, safe, seeks to continuously improve, and is focused on meeting the goals and objectives of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform final assembly of prototype and high-volume production plastic injection molds.
Coordinate mold components through multiple work centers.
Maintain a schedule for multiple work centers.
Participate in mold design reviews.
Perform and document modifications, repairs, cleaning, and maintenance on plastic injection molds.
Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow standard safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
Accurately use measurement tools (i.e., micrometers, calipers, indicator, scale).
Operate a variety of manual machines (e.g., Mills, cutoff saw, surface grinder, wet grinder).
Review complex drawings and GT&D.
Identify and troubleshoot tooling, equipment, and process issues (e.g., poor venting, flash).
Cross-train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience.
Work with Engineers, Tool Designers, etc. providing input to manufacturing capabilities on new and existing molds.
Support Discovery and Engineering on rapid prototyping and urgent requests.
Train junior Machinist or Mold Maker Apprentices.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with close tolerances in a variety of metals preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 10+ years’ injection mold making experience required.
Completion of Trade school or N.Y.S. Certification Papers, Journeyman Papers preferred.
Prior team lead or supervisor experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of shop math (e.g. Trigonometry, Geometry).
Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment.
Ability to hold tolerances down to +/- .0001”.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings including GD&T.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Ability to stay focused and organized in a fluid environment.
Understanding of medical device manufacturing preferred.
Demonstrated experience in the coordination of multiple projects simultaneously.
Basic MS Excel or MS Project experience.
