EWASTE+ focuses on the recovery of value from idle, obsolete and excess electronic equipment and operates a large-scale processing facility in Victor, New York (near Rochester) and two regional consolidation facilities in Albany and New York City. The company utilizes environmentally sound processing methods that maximize value and recovery while eliminating disposal of electronics in landfills. Description

The Supply Chain Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Shipping and Receiving, Demanufacturing, Inventory Control, and Packaging departments. This role ensures operational efficiency, accuracy in inventory management, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The manager will lead efforts to innovate processes, maintain high throughput, and drive improvements in quality and productivity across all departments.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Departmental Oversight:

  • Manage Shipping and Receiving, Demanufacturing, Inventory Control, and Packaging departments to ensure smooth daily operations and maximize operational efficiency.

  • Coordinate with department supervisors and team leaders to set goals, review progress, and implement improvements.

2) Inventory Accuracy:

  • Ensure 98% inventory accuracy across all departments.

  • Develop and enforce processes for efficient stock management, including cycle counts, audits, and adjustments.

  • Implement best practices for inventory tracking and optimization.

3) Shipping and Receiving, Packaging:

  • Oversee the shipping and receiving, and packaging functions to ensure timely and accurate receipt and delivery of material and products.

  • Work closely with suppliers and carriers to improve logistics performance and reduce shipping costs.

  • Develop and maintain documentation to ensure compliance with shipping regulations.

  • Work closely with the Logistics team to improve packaging and preservation of value of incoming product.

4) Demanufacturing Operations:

  • Ensure that the demanufacturing process complies with certification requirements and maximizes material recovery.

  • Innovate and streamline demanufacturing processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and meeting or exceeding monthly scrap product outputs.

  • Implement a tool management program to both maintain, track, and control tool expenses.

5) Compliance:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Ensure all departments comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards, including OSHA, NAID, R2v3, and e-stewards certifications.

6) Throughput and Productivity:

  • Continuously monitor department performance metrics, including throughput, to meet and exceed production goals.

  • Lead initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.

  • Implement lean principles to optimize workflow and remove bottlenecks.

7) Innovation and Process Improvement:

  • Drive innovation in all areas of responsibility by identifying new technologies, equipment, and processes.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to implement process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.

8) Supplier and Carrier Cost Negotiation:

  • Supplier Relationships: Actively negotiate with suppliers and carriers to secure more favorable contracts, leading to reduced shipping, packaging, and material costs.

  • Carrier Optimization: Work with carriers to explore bundling shipments, optimizing delivery routes, and securing volume discounts, directly reducing logistics and freight costs.

  • Vendor Performance Review: Regularly review and evaluate suppliers' performance to ensure value for money and identify alternative suppliers when necessary, driving cost efficiency.

9) Asset and Scrap Value Maximization:

  • Asset Recovery Programs: Oversee asset recovery initiatives within demanufacturing to maximize revenue from recovered components, metals, and other materials.

  • Sellable Scrap Products: Collaborate with sales to maximize scrap product generation and identify new opportunities to generate additional revenue.

  • Inventory Turnover: Implement methods to improve inventory turnover, reducing holding costs and freeing up capital, while minimizing the risk of obsolescence and maintaining compliance.

10) Packaging Efficiency and Cost Reduction:

  • Material Optimization: Drive cost savings by optimizing the packaging materials used, seeking sustainable yet cost-effective alternatives.

  • Reduction in Packaging Waste and Disposal: Implement initiatives to reduce packaging waste, leading to lower material costs and disposal fees.

11) Operational Cost Control:

  • Utility & Overhead Reduction: Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives in warehouse operations, including lighting, HVAC systems, and equipment maintenance to reduce utility costs.

  • Waste Minimization: Collaborate with the sales team to minimize waste disposal costs, identifying more cost-effective recycling or disposal options.

12) Equipment/Facility Maintenance:

  • Preventative Maintenance Programs: Implement and oversee a preventative maintenance schedule for all warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks conveyors, shredders, and balers) to minimize unexpected downtime and costly repairs.

  • Facility Upkeep: Ensure regular maintenance of the facility infrastructure, including HVAC, lighting, and safety systems, to enhance energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and extend the lifespan of assets.

  • Vendor Contracts for Maintenance Services: Negotiate maintenance service contracts to optimize cost while ensuring timely and quality service, contributing to reduced equipment downtime and extended asset lifecycles.

  • Cost Reduction Through Equipment Optimization: Analyze equipment usage patterns and recommend upgrades or replacements where necessary to increase energy efficiency and reduce long-term operational costs.

Pay: $65,000 - $100,000 Per Year Depending on Experience

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

Experience:5+ years of experience in distribution, operations, or logistics management. Experience in overseeing multiple departments is preferred.

Education:Bachelor’s degree in operations management, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Proficiency in inventory management systems (IMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Strong understanding of OSHA, R2v3, e-Stewards, NAID and other regulatory or certification requirements.

Work Environment:This position operates in a warehouse and office environment. The role requires frequent walking, standing, and occasional lifting of materials. The manager may also be required to travel occasionally to other company sites or attend industry events.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
