Job Description Summary

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

The Instrumentation Engineer – Flight Test demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute with some guidance on the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements

  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.

  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.

  • Maintain open and close communication with FTO Team, Evendale engineering customer, and Airframer Customer.

  • Recommend approach to meet the technical and program requirements

  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments

  • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems

  • Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

  • Author instrumentation and systems descriptions of the test request

  • Troubleshoot instrumentation squawks and provide solution and instructions for technicians

  • Maintain instrumentation configuration and actively communicate changes with engineering teams and customers

  • Ensure data quality and perform quantitative instrumentation checks

  • Data acquisition and signal processing

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college

  • At least 1 additional year of experience in an engineering position (or a master’s degree in engineering)

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible and off-shift hours (including 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, nights, weekends, and holidays) when business needs dictate.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to and support operations at offsite locations when business needs dictate.

  • Ability and willingness to fly aboard an experimental aircraft including participation in development flight tests.

  • Able to obtain and maintain FAA Class-3 medical certificate or equivalent.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.

The base pay range for this position is $87,700 - 109,700 - $131,600. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 11/29/2024.
