Navy Federal Credit Union Capital Markets Operations Analyst II in Vienna, Virginia
Overview
Support operations, controls, analysis, and reporting functions of the Capital Markets Operations (CM Ops) branch within the Treasury division to support Navy Federal’s investment and liquidity management strategy. Partner with and assist the team’s Senior Analyst and leaders on the daily operational activities to ensure proper management and monitoring of Navy Federal’s reserve balance at the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) and accounting of investment/debt transactions by appropriately applying applicable external regulations (NCUA, GAAP), as well as adhering to internal policies and procedures to ensure accurate and proper reconciliation and reporting for financial statements and regulatory reporting.
Responsibilities
Perform day-to-day capital markets operational activities which includes, but not limited to the following:
o Monitor NFCU’s reserve account activities and balance at the FRB, including the forecast of the end-of-day (EOD) balance and 30-day forward-looking forecast
o Accounting and settlement of investment and borrowing transactions
o Daily and monthly reconciliations of investment and borrowing transactions
o Assist the team’s Senior Analyst with the month-end closing process of the investment accounting subledger to ensure timely and accurate transmission of accounting entries to the general ledger
o Process data and perform analysis as part of the team’s monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deliverables for NFCU leadership, board of directors, regulators, and internal/external auditors
o Participate in the investigation and resolution of complex questions and requests
Prepare PBCs for internal and external auditors for audits/reviews/exams
Take initiatives to identify areas of improvements; implement those improvements/enhancements as directed
Guide and train the team’s junior analysts on new tasks, products, processes, etc.
Assist the team’s Senior Analyst on departmental and enterprise-wide projects/initiatives
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
High degree of independence and proactiveness to learn new or increasingly complex assignments, research and identify resolutions in both routinely assigned tasks and ad-hoc initiatives/projects
Intermediate experience or operational knowledge with corporate capital markets operations such as third-party confirmation and purchase/sale settlements for debt/equity securities, repurchase agreements and other corporate borrowings
Intermediate experience working in an operational environment with accounting entries, reconciliations, internal/external reporting, preparation of supporting documents for audits/reviews, and related month end close responsibilities
Intermediate experience in research and analysis of issues/variances, presenting recommendations and executing resolution from start to finish
Experience leading projects and/or initiatives of small scope
Able to manage multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
Intermediate experience working with cross-functional teams
Working knowledge of investment tracking and accounting software and accounting system (i.e., general ledger)
Effective organizational, planning and time management skills
Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with various external and internal technical and functional business partners
Effectively build relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact across the enterprise
Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills
Effective database and presentation software skills
Desired Qualifications
Experience with credit union financials and/or NCUA regulations
Knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies, and procedures
Working knowledge of Navy Federal's functions, philosophy, operations, and organizational objectives
Previous experience in the financial services industry
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
