The Villanova University M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing (FCN) is pleased to invite applications for the position of the Kreider Endowed Professorship in Health Care Simulation and Innovation. The Kreider Endowed Professor is a distinguished academic leader who will advance research, education and innovation in the field of simulation science and innovation in nursing education. The Endowed Professorship represents a significant commitment to excellence in scholarship, teaching and service within this rapidly evolving and critical discipline. Reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Nursing, the Kreider Endowed Professorship in Health Care Simulation and Innovation will provide strategic, visionary and dynamic leadership to faculty, staff and students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Research and Scholarship

  • Secure external funding to support research and innovation initiatives, projects and collaborations (e.g. Health Resources and Services Administration [HRSA], National League for Nursing or other national sources).
  • Conduct innovative research in simulation science and technology, contributing to advancements and breakthroughs in the field and utilization in outstanding nursing education.
  • Publish high-impact research articles in reputable journals and present findings at academic and professional conferences.
  • Lead and mentor research teams conducting innovative simulation research.

     

Teaching and Mentoring

  • May develop and teach courses in simulation science.
  • Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students, providing guidance in their simulation science/technology research projects and academic pursuits.
  • Foster a stimulating and inclusive learning and healthy work environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity and innovation.

     

Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Engagement

  • Collaborate with faculty, researchers, industry partners, health care systems and professionals to promote interdisciplinary research and projects.
  • Engage with relevant departments, institutions and industry partners to advance the integration of simulation science and technology across various domains.
  • Collaborate with College of Nursing faculty and staff to reimagine simulation education in Nursing, positioning us as a national leader in simulation science in education.

Community Outreach and Knowledge Dissemination

  • Engage in outreach activities to promote awareness and understanding of simulation science, innovation and technology in the community and among stakeholders.
  • Participate in public lectures, workshops and seminars to share knowledge and expertise with a broader audience.
  • Collaborate to design and deliver simulation science institutes to ex ernal communities.

     

Leadership and Administration

  • Establish the College of Nursing as a key leader in simulation science and innovation in education.
  • Provide academic leadership in the field of simulation science and health care technology within the College of Nursing and the broader academic community.
  • Serve on committees, task forces and academic boards to contribute to decision-making and strategic planning in the College, University and broader academic and healthcare community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Research doctoral preparation in Nursing, Simulation Science, Engineering or related field, with specific experience in the use of simulation to advance education of health care professionals.
  • A distinguished record of scholarly research and publication in simulation science and technology in nursing/health care.
  • Experience in securing research grants and funding from various sources.
  • Demonstrated excellence in working with students.
  • Current position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
  • Eligibility for tenure.
  • Minimum of three years' academic administration experience or other significant academic/educational nursing leadership experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, collegiality and ability to collaborate.
  • Teaching experience at the graduate level.

     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research Doctoral preparation in Nursing strongly desired.
  • Current rank as a full professor (or an advanced Associate Professor nearing FCN criteria for promotion to Full Professor).
  • Leadership experience within an academic or research setting is highly desirable.
  • The highest standards of personal and professional integrity.
