Mid-Level Network/RF Technician

We are seeking a mid-level Network/RF Technician with a broad skill set to support the RF Sensors program out of NSWC Dahlgren. The work location will be at Naval Station Norfolk, Little Creek Naval Base and SimV Virginia Beach office. The RF Sensors program is a communication program involving a family of systems supporting multiple DoD entities and Federal agencies. RF Sensors provides rapid engineering solutions to emergent non-conventional threats, integrating microelectronics and scalable network and communication capabilities for immediate operational deployment. The team is responsible for the entire lifecycle of the systems it creates, including hardware, networks, and software design, development, testing, fielding, and support. The team collaborates extensively which is beneficial to mission success and the functional decomposition of the work that needs to be completed.

Responsibilities:

  • Network architecture and management

  • Hardware configuration of appliances, routers, switches, firewalls, communication systems (various mesh network radios and cellular technologies) and security appliances

  • VPN design and implementation

  • Network traffic segregation using VLANs, firewalls

  • Familiarity with Linux-based network service configuration (iptables, firewalld , sshd), CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Administrator) or equivalent experience in scanning and patching configurations and software libraries on systems according to DoD STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides)

  • Linux scripting would be helpful

  • Strong communication skills

Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship

  • Experience in designing, architecting, and troubleshooting networks.

  • Proficiency in configuring hardware appliances including mesh network radios(i.e. MPU5), routers, switches, firewalls, and security appliances (VPNs).

  • Design and implementation of network traffic segregation using VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs.

  • Familiarity with Linux-based network service configuration (iptables, firewalld, sshd).

  • Experience in designing and architecting networks.

  • Proficiency in configuring hardware appliances including routers, switches, firewalls, communication systems (various radios and cellular technologies), and security appliances (VPNs).

  • Design and implementation of network traffic segregation using VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs.

  • Familiarity with Linux-based network service configuration (iptables, firewalld, sshd).

  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or equivalent experience.

  • Proven troubleshooting abilities/skills for various network environments.

  • Knowledge and experience working with Mesh Networks and Mesh Network Radios (i.e. MPU5, TrellisWare).

Preferred Skills & Experience:  

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional –Security (CCNP Security).

  • Experience scanning and patching systems and software libraries according to DoD STIGs.

  • Working knowledge and experience with WinTAK/ATAK.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing requirements.

  • Critical thinking and ability to provide unconventional solutions to various problems.

  • Occasional extended work days to support various exercises.

  • Understanding of RF signal propagation

Education:  A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline is required

Clearance: A Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Travel: 15% - Occasional Travel both CONUS and OCONUS

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $105,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
