Title: SENIOR COPY WRITER Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach Job Number: 240003HJ Note: Within NEXCOM this position is known as Senior Creative Content Specialist. Job Summary: Position oversees the creation and development of content utilizing all forms of media for key marketing branding projects. Responsibilities for concept ideation storyboarding, leading creative project working groups. Skill sets include creative persuasive writing and visualization that tells a consistent story or message aligning with strategic projects across all NEXCOM systemwide marketing channels, including but not limited to print, digital email, web, social media, and video. Duties and Responsibilities: - Manages a creative production team of direct reports. - Develops NEXCOMs tone and voice to be used in all marketing channels. - Manages the writing style, formatting, and brand standards for copy in all marketing channels, including copy, headlines, subject lines, and other key messaging. - Researches and writes creative content that works to achieve business objectives aligned with Merchandising and Products & Promotions. - Manages campaign budgets for executing campaign strategies outside of normal production cadence. Manages a content and project schedule. - Plans to build and get approved campaign concepts that include strategy and content for all channels, including web, email, social, SEM, digital and print flyers, third-party advertising, in-store promotional signage, etc. - Administrative Contracting Officers Representative (ACOR) manages a positive working relationship with vendors and the Contracts team on several marketing vendor contracts. - Works with a video production company to script, create, direct, and provide assets as needed for internal and external video needs. - Works closely with Branding, Design, and in-store visual teams to create unique and disruptive creative campaigns tailored to omni-channel specifications and tell a consistent story across all channels. - Works closely with Events & Social Media teams to capitalize on enterprise events in marketing communications that will drive conversions on events and loyalty acquisition. - Works closely with the Public Affairs Office (PAO) to align marketing messaging with official Navy and NEXCOM command guidelines. - Works closely with Data Analyst and web and social team to understand and report on campaign performance. - Manages creation and scheduling of Mood Media digital assets across all NEXCOM locations. - Assists in collecting, organizing, formatting, and editing copy/content for print media using a Macintosh workstation and Adobe Creative Suite software. - Manages build-out, implementation, and training of internal Workfront Digital Asset Management tool. Utilizes Workfront Digital Asset Management tool to: - Upload photography, branding, and digital assets given by the Design and Branding teams - Organize and optimize asset library by metatags, keywords, alt text, lightboxes, etc. - Work with the web team to optimize/design user interface utilizing HTML - Utilizes Workfront project management platform to delegate/assign tasks to creative and content teams depending on availability and priorities. Create projects/deliverables/workflows and approvals. Upload proofs and documents. Create detailed schedules and set deadlines for various stages of a project. Create and communicate custom reports as needed. - Assists in the development and implementation of copy standards and processes. - Proofs for accuracy of content and corrects as needed. - Coordinates closely with the web producer and the rest of the web team. - Assists in collecting, organizing, formatting, and editing all image content for print and digital media. Performs other related duties as assigned. The incumbent of this position must file a Financial Disclosure Report (OGE) Form 450, as required. Qualifications: A total of 6 years of experience, consisting of the following: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years of administrative experience. merchandising, marketing, technical, or other responsible work enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of marketing practices and procedures, skills in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships, and the ability to exercise mature judgment. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 1 year of education above the high school level may be substituted for nine months of experience, up to a 4-year degree in the advertising field for two years of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 3 years of progressively responsible substantive experience in Marketing, which provided a background in: - Advertising production, methods, and procedure - Creating and developing marketing and branding projects for web content across various forms of media. - Developing and managing an expense budgeting/monitoring system - Developing and executing integrated marketing concept ideation and storyboarding/messaging using creative/persuasive writing and visualization. - Developing and managing time-sensitive deadlines - Developing and executing targeted marketing plans, campaigns, and other activities that focus on corporate branding and organization objectives - Supervisory responsibility of human resources or similar work, which demonstrates knowledge and ability within one or more advertising or merchandising areas of non-appropriated funds or private sector advertising management. - Strong verbal and written communication skills Preferred experience with Storytelling is a must and includes prior experience as a Journalist working for various types of ad agencies (digital, creative, e-commerce), newspapers, or freelancers or consultants roles in an innovative environment, taking on projects to develop content specific to the company’s products or services, including advertising copy, web content, and marketing collateral.
