Job Description:

Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in age-related category and area of expertise.

PRACTICE SPECIFICS

  • HUB campus in Virginia, MN includes a 26-member, multi-specialty group including orthopedic surgery, orthopedic medicine, internal medicine, family practice, ENT, anesthesia, dermatology, general surgery, pediatrics, ophthalmology, occupational medicine, OB/GYN, pathology, urology, wound care, primary care, and 20 allied health providers

  • Existing robust medical orthopedic practice based in Virginia and the surrounding Arrowhead Region that services as a referral base to the surgical orthopedics team in Virginia

  • Surgical first assistant

  • Perform histories and physicals; pre and post-op patient education, coordinate diagnostic studies, consultations, procedures and communications

  • Post-op management of patients: daily rounds, patients discharge, discharge summaries, post-op clinic visits

  • Prescribe pre- and post-op medications

  • Hours are variable

  • Potential for call (weeknights and weekends)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in MN

  • (NP) current licensure as a registered nurse in MN

  • Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with Masters’ degree; national certification for Physician Assistant

  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice

  • Ability to make complex medical decisions

  • 60 miles north of Duluth, MN; 200 miles north of Minneapolis/St. Paul

  • Arrowhead region population of 89,000, Itasca Lakes region population of 45,000

  • 200 miles north of Minneapolis, MN on the Iron Range
